October 21, 2015 is the future arrival day for Marty McFly in the 1985 hit film, “Back to the Future.”
You might think this movie has no business in this money-related blog. But it does – the movie was Michael J. Fox’s side hustle.
The Canadian actor was filming the TV series “Family Ties” during the day, and he worked on the movie at night. And when Fox was a struggling actor pre-Future days, he once had to sell half his couch and some of his books to buy food. Check out my friend Michele Wojciechowski’s article to learn more about the film.
A lot has changed since 1985.
We have personal computers and laptops, cell phones, global communication…I could go on. I’m still waiting for a jet pack, although there IS one on my WordPress dashboard! After holding out from getting a smart phone until two years ago (yep, I had a flip phone), I still have to admit my favorite thing about that phone is the Scrabble game app.
So what is your future? Where do you want to be in 30 years? 2045 seems so far away. I’ll be in my mid-80s! But time flies faster than a DeLorean with a flux capacitor. So plan a happy life, whatever that means to you. Ask for your own interpretation of wealth from the Universe, and trust that you have the means to make it come true. Act as if you are already there, by making good financial decisions. As Marty McFly said, “If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.”
